Description
High quality handmade spoon carving knife suitable for both beginners and professionals. The tool is made from high quality carbon steel 51CrV4. After the tempering process the steel reaches the hardness of 57HRC. The edges are sharpened and polished with leather, which is rubbed with abrasive paste. The tool is razor sharp and ready to use straight out of the box.

I have two of the Giles hook knives and 3 sizes in the palm/spoon gouges. All 5 have outstanding blades. Hold an edge well. Come razor sharp. Edge cleans up well with a quick strop. Handles on the spoon gouges are excellent and make the tool easy to manage without causing too much hand fatigue. The handles on the hook knives are a bit small for my liking but everyone likes something different. Not enough of an issue to change out the handles though. I think these are some of the best buys out there..

I am super happy with this knife! I use it every time I carve, I even use it when I rough-out a bowl (just to quickly get rid of the adze marks). Great edge retention - I only hone it once in a while. I will soon buy the other sizes.
